Philip from Wildes Cheese has been suggesting a chilli fruit cheese for a few weeks now. Well, who am I to refuse? The idea of a hot fruit cheese had not occurred to me before but I had some lovely Bramley apples in cold storage which I thought would make a good foil to the heat of the chilli and I managed to find a recipe which I thought should adapt successfully.
I tried the result out on my flatmate. His response was something like “Lovely, although I can’t taste the…er… hold on… ooh CHILLI!!” These innocent-looking little jellies have a sting in the tail!
